Do you like playing music for fun?
Are you learning to play a new instrument or a new piece of music?
Not afraid to PRACTICE music in an outdoor public space?
Then PUBLIC PRACTICE is for you!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
A unique and INFORMAL music-making opportunity...
- Selected volunteer non-professional instrumentalists practice music outdoors in designated "off-the-beaten-path" public spaces on the Music Center campus.
- Choose to participate as a solo musician or as part of a duo (with another musician you already know).
- Practice either a new piece of music or a new instrument - warm-ups, scales, starts/stops and repeated phrases, mistakes and improvisation.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
You can apply to participate as a solo musician OR as a duo (with another musician you know).
- Open to non-professional instrumentalists and music hobbyists of all skill levels and cultural musical traditions.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must provide your own acoustic instrument*, sheet music and music stand (if needed).
- Must be available for two 30-minute practice sessions at the Music Center during daytime hours on a Wednesday or Friday in April 2010.
- Must be willing to spend time practicing (not performing) in an outdoor public space.
*NOTE: Instruments that require electricity to amplify sound, such as keyboards, are not considered acoustic. Also, this program is designed as a practice opportunity for instrumentalists and not vocalists. Thank you.
HOW DO I APPLY?
It's EASY - apply online, takes as little as 15 minutes! Apply now!
