What is your favorite thing about ballet? What inspires you about it?
My favorite thing about ballet would have to be the fact that it takes me to a totally different place. I could be having a horrible day, but then I step into the studio and all of a sudden I feel so much better. My ballet teacher says that we all come in as Atlas carrying the world on our shoulders! But the weight gets lifted when we start dancing?

What are your plans after high school?
My dream is to get accepted into a company after high school. But I also want to take a few college courses on the side to further my education.

What are your dreams/goals in life?
My dream has always been to become a professional ballerina.

Who has been your biggest fan and has given you the most support?
My biggest fans would have to be my whole family and my good friends. They are always there to help and support me, no matter what. Without them I would have never made it to where I'm at today.

Why did you want to participate in Spotlight?
My teacher had actually taken a few students to the Spotlight competition before me. They all told me how nice and positive everyone was and that they got great corrections from all of the judges. I wanted to be a part of that.

What other skills or talents do you have that other people may not know about you?
I'm convinced that I was born in the wrong time period because I love to cook, sew, draw, and do any sort of arts and crafts project. I also enjoy knitting even though my grandma usually has to take my knitted scarves apart and redo them for me!

What qualities do you believe helped make you into the successful artist that you are today?
I hope that my dedication to the quality of movement has helped me with my success. I know that I have spent numerous hours with my teachers just going over the feelings in every piece and how I should go about dancing them. For example, in Kitri I am portraying a spirited young girl, so everything needs to feel and be ENERGETIC!

What advice would you give to a student who felt they might not be ready to do Spotlight?
You are ready! Spotlight will be a positive self-improving experience! Everyone makes you feel so comfortable the minute that you walk through the door, and the judges provide loads of positive feedback! You have nothing to lose, but so much to gain!
